We’re pleased to share an exciting milestone for Richert Homes: we have now officially submitted planning for 14 new homes at Long Heys, Greetland in Halifax.
This project is an important step towards bringing high-quality, thoughtfully designed family homes to the local area, and it’s a site we’ve been looking forward to progressing for some time.
A design shaped by the landscape
Long Heys has presented some clear challenges, particularly around site levels and topography. Rather than working against the terrain, we’ve developed a layout that responds to it, creating a proposal that feels natural to the site and makes the most of the setting.
One of the real highlights of the scheme is the opportunity for future homeowners to enjoy far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside, which has helped inform how the homes are positioned and how the streets and open spaces are arranged.
Biodiversity Net Gain and greener neighbourhoods
Like many SME housebuilders, we’ve also had to navigate the practicalities of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements as part of the planning process. While this added complexity, it has also helped shape a really positive outcome: the proposals include a strong amount of open green space, designed to be enjoyed not just by future residents, but to provide wider benefit to the area too.

What happens next
With planning now submitted, we’ll continue working through the process and will share further updates as the application progresses. We’re genuinely excited about the potential of Long Heys and look forward to seeing this development take shape over the coming months.
