We’re pleased to share an exciting update from Snowbird Close in Burn (Selby), as this development marks our first venture into timber frame construction. It’s been a real learning curve for the team, and one that’s already changing how we think about future projects.
Fast progress, right before our eyes
To put the pace into context, we went from having just three footings in place to three plots prepared and ready for roof trusses in an incredibly short timeframe. Seeing that transformation happen so quickly on site has been genuinely impressive, and it’s a great example of the efficiency timber frame can offer.

Why timber frame has been a game-changer
Going into this project, we were curious, but naturally a little sceptical about whether timber frame would live up to the hype. Having now seen it in action, we can confidently say it has been a real eye-opener.
In terms of cost, it’s comparable to more traditional methods, but the benefits we’ve seen so far are significant:
- Speed: programme gains that are hard to ignore
- Precision: consistent quality and accurate assembly
- Sustainability: a method that supports lower-impact construction
- Lower U-values: strong thermal performance potential
- Less mess on site: a cleaner, more organised working environment
- Less management: fewer moving parts to coordinate day-to-day
Looking ahead
This milestone has been a genuinely positive step for Richert Homes, and we’re excited to explore where timber frame could fit into future developments as we continue building high-quality family homes across Yorkshire.
